At just 11 years old, Ethan embodies what it means to be resilient. No matter the circumstances, he approaches life with determination, positivity, and an unwavering spirit that inspires everyone around him.
Ethan’s journey has not been without challenges. Since infancy, he has undergone multiple surgeries and medical procedures. Most recently, he faced an intensive period of recovery after double foot surgery and an ear surgery—all within the span of about a month. Through it all, Ethan has shown remarkable courage. He has learned to walk using braces and specialized post-operative shoes, tackling each step forward with perseverance and a smile.
What truly stands out about Ethan is his attitude. Whether he is learning new skills or completing daily tasks, he gives his best effort every time. His ability to stay positive—even during difficult moments—demonstrates a strength that goes far beyond his years.
Ethan communicates using a combination of modified sign language and an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device, allowing him to effectively express his needs and connect with others. He shows a strong understanding of expectations and consistently rises to meet them, approaching each opportunity to learn with enthusiasm.
Through his work with CITE Services, Ethan has been focusing on building independence in personal care and hygiene. With the help of visual schedules and timers, he successfully navigates transitions throughout his day. Even more impressive, Ethan is willing to pause activities he enjoys to practice new skills and interventions—an incredible testament to his dedication and motivation.
Week after week, Ethan continues to make meaningful progress toward his goals. Despite the obstacles he has faced, he remains committed, driven, and eager to grow. His journey is a powerful reminder that resilience is not just about overcoming challenges—it’s about embracing growth, staying hopeful, and moving forward with courage.
